The laser works by directing concentrated light into the hair follicle inhibiting the hair’s ability to grow without disrupting or damaging the skin’s surface.
Our lasers use a wide beam which allows the removal of multiple hair follicles at the same time.
Our experienced Therapists will take your skin and hair type into account before creating a personalised treatment plan.
The Candela GentleLASE Pro is designed to work for clients with dark hair and lighter skin, while the GentleYAG Pro works best on a darker skin tone.
Designed with sensitive skin in mind, our laser hair removal technology is safe enough to be used on any part of the body and target different skin types whilst ensuring maximum results. All of our lasers feature a unique dynamic cooling device that helps to calm, soothe and protect the skin.

Preparation
Aftercare
There may be some mild heat and redness in areas that have been treated. Soothe any redness and sensitivity with Institut Laser Aid, this will continue to draw heat out of the skin and keep the area cool and hydrated. Laser Aid can be applied liberally for 3-5 days or until the skin has returned to its pre-treatment state.
For 24 hours post-treatment, avoid shaving, waxing or plucking hair, exfoliation, excessive sweating, swimming or saunas, very hot showers and tight restrictive clothing.
Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight for 2 weeks after your treatment and always use the Institut Age Defence 50+ to protect the skin and maintain results.
Institut Glycolic Scrub 14% is recommended to use 5 days post-treatment to ensure the hair is encouraged to shed from the follicle, aid in the treatment of ingrown hairs and allowing an increase in benefits from better absorption of the laser.
Before your appointment, we ask that you:
At Laser Clinics New Zealand, we recommend that Laser Hair Removal clients undergoing Laser Hair Removal treatments are 18 years or older. This ensures optimal treatment results. Prior to the age of 18 years, hair growth has not fully developed due to changing hormonal levels.
In certain instances, we can provide Laser Hair Removal treatments to clients 12 years and over. However, for clients 18 years and under, a parent or guardian is required at the clinic for your first treatment. Your parent or guardian is required to sign a consent form and be present in the consultation to ensure they understand the procedure and aftercare. Note, it is optional for parents and guardians to be in the treatment room for the first treatment.
Unfortunately, topical numbing creams are not safe nor effective when doing Laser Hair Removal. The sensation you feel in treatment is not felt on the skin, but in the follicle of the hair. Unfortunately numbing cream cannot penetrate deep enough to minimise discomfort that may be felt at the follicle.
One of the benefits of laser hair removal is that the treatment is virtually painless, especially compared to waxing. Each pulse lasts less than second, producing a slight tingling feeling. In particularly sensitive areas, such as the upper lip, it may feel like a rubber band snap on the skin. Our advanced cooling machines used in all laser treatments cools your skin before, during and post treatment to minimise any discomfort.
Depending on your hair and skin type and the area being treated, you will usually require treatments at 4-6 week intervals.
Each part of the body has a different hair growing cycle, so the hair loss will vary depending on what phase your follicles are in at the time of treatment.
There are no conclusive studies on laser being safe or unsafe for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you have any concerns about proceeding with Laser Hair Removal please consult your doctor.
Epilepsy sufferers are recommended to consult their Doctor about having Laser Hair Removal. An individual will need to obtain medical clearance from their Doctor prior to starting treatment. At Laser Clinics New Zealand, we also offer various options of protective eyewear to ensure your safety at all time during treatment.
There are some medications that make your skin photo-sensitive, these medications are but not limited to oral and topical vitamin A’s, Antibiotics, and some Anti-depressants. Its best to speak with your medical professional about this. Once medical clearance has been obtained, we are able to test patch you with the laser to determine it is safe to commence treatment.
There is no refund on pre-pays and they are not transferable to other individuals or treatment areas.
We will match competitor pricing however there are some terms and conditions, please see these on our website, located in the footer of this page.
