How it works
Our experienced therapists will take your skin and hair type into account before creating a personalised treatment plan.
Our lasers use a large treatment spot size which allows multiple hair follicles to be targeted at the same time.
The Candela GentleLASE Pro is designed to work for clients with dark hair and lighter skin, while the GentleYAG Pro works best on a darker skin tone.
With each session, hair is reduced. We recommend an initial course of 6-12 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart (depending on area and skin tone).
Preparation and aftercare
Shave
Shave the treatment area the night before your appointment.
No Wax
Do not wax in the 4 weeks leading up to your appointment as the pigment is required in the hair follicle for the laser to identify the hair and treatment to be effective
Avoid direct sunlight
Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight for 2 weeks prior to your treatment and always protect the skin with sunscreen.
Post care
There may be some mild heat and redness in areas that have been treated. Soothe any redness and sensitivity with Skinstitut™ Laser Aid. This can be applied liberally for 3-5 days or until the skin has returned to its pre-treatment state.
Things to avoid
For 24 hours post-treatment, avoid shaving, waxing, or plucking hair, exfoliation, excessive sweating, swimming or saunas, very hot showers, and tight restrictive clothing.
Avoid exposing the area to direct sunlight for 2 weeks after your treatment and always use the Skinstitut™ Age Defence 50+ to protect the skin and maintain results.
Skincare
The Skinstitut™ Glycolic Scrub 14% is recommended to use 5 days post-treatment to ensure the hair is encouraged to shed from the follicle and aid in the treatment of ingrown hairs.

What do I need to do to prepare for my Laser Hair Removal appointment?
- Shave treatment area at least 12-24 hours prior to your treatment
- Avoid chemical peels or laser resurfacing treatments at least 4 weeks before your treatment
- Exfoliate the treatment area at least 3 days before your treatment
- Ensure no residue fake tan is present on the skin
- Avoid excessive sun exposure two weeks prior (including solariums or tanning drugs)
- Avoid using topical creams/moisturisers, perfumes to the area being treated before the appointment
- Do not wax, use depilatory creams or pluck hairs four weeks prior to laser treatment

Will all hair be removed? or can it be just reduced?
It can take a few sessions to see complete hair reduction. If you’re not ready to reduce all hair talk to your therapist about limiting the treatment plan.

Can I get blonde hair removed?
Unfortunately, blonde, grey/white and some types of red hair do not respond to treatment. Laser hair removal cannot treat these colours as they do not produce any pigment.

How often do I need to get Laser Hair Removal?
Depending on the hair, skin type, and body area being treated, you will require treatments at 4-6 weeks intervals. For the facial area, treatments should be done in 2-week intervals unless recommended otherwise.
Each part of the facial and body area has a different growing cycle, so hair reduction will vary depending on what stage your follicles are in at the time of the treatment. After each treatment hair is reduced hence it is important to complete the entire recommended course of treatments and at consistent intervals for best results. We recommend a series of 8-12 treatments and maintenance treatments every 2-3 months for permanent hair reduction.
However, as everyone is unique, we access all our clients on a case-by-case basis. During your complimentary consultation, your therapist will discuss a schedule that works with your desired results.

What skin tones can get Laser Hair Removal?
At Laser Clinics we treat all skin tones with our medical grade Candela Lasers. We offer two different laser machines, the GentleLase Pro and GentleYag, to achieve safe, effective results. Our Laser technicians use the Fitzpatrick Classification scale to determine your skin tone at the consultation and select the most suitable machine for your laser hair removal treatment. The GentleLase Pro is suitable for fair to medium skin tones and the GentleYag is suitable for medium to darker skin tones. Please be advised that your settings may change throughout your course to ensure optimal results.

Can I have Laser Hair Removal over the top of tattoos?
No, unfortunately we cannot treat over tattoos with our laser. We can treat around the tattooed areas with a gap of 3cm.
